Studied at the Universities of Freiburg, Tübingen and Bochum. 1. and 2nd state examination in Düsseldorf. Admitted to the bar in February 1989. Doctorate in 1990 in environmental law (waste management planning) under Prof. Dr. Hans D. Jarass.

Chairman of the Specialist Lawyers' Committee for Administrative Law of the Saxony Bar Association. Chairman of the Association for the Promotion of the Institute for Environmental and Planning Law at the University of Leipzig. Honorary miner of the Central German mining district.

Honorary professor for construction law at the Berufsakademie Sachsen (FH) since 2003.

Advising and representing companies in the raw materials industry in planning and approval procedures for the extraction of mineral raw materials of all kinds, as well as energy and CRMA raw materials, in land transfer and premature transfer of ownership procedures, in the extraction and securing of mining rights, in the approval of the reutilization/​recultivation of opencast mines and mines, in water law and immission control law approval procedures throughout Germany, advising and representing state authorities in procedures for the approval of operating plans and land transfer/​transfer of ownership (e. g. Garzweiler proceedings BVerfG). E.g. Garzweiler proceedings BVerfG). Preparation of legal opinions for state authorities in the context of the reutilization of complex opencast mining projects, securing raw material projects against conflicting regional planning plans, advising industrial companies on the implementation of spatial impact assessments and litigation to defend against lawsuits against raw material projects.

Advisory and litigation representation of state authorities in the planning and approval of flood protection projects (dike plan approvals, etc.) as well as in the field of hydropower use.

Advises and represents industrial companies in the planning and approval of landfills, in the planning and approval of various types of facilities under immission control law, advises and represents clients in litigation concerning contaminated sites and the release of contaminated sites, and advises on CCS and CCU projects.

Advising and representing state authorities in the approval of 380kv overhead lines (e. g. Uckermark line), advising federal authorities on the expansion of the extra‑​high voltage grid and working on scientific studies to accelerate grid expansion (client: federal authority). Advising planning authorities, in particular on the designation of commercial and industrial/​special areas.
