Studied German, European and French law at the University of Münster, first state law examination in 2000, 2001 – 2003: research assistant at a Hamburg law firm; 2004: PhD under Prof. Dr Hans Peter Bull, Hamburg; 2003 to 2005: legal traineeship in Hamburg and Paris; 2005: second state examination in law; 2005 to 2013: Hamburg State Administration, inter alia Deputy Head of the Joint Representation of Hamburg and Schleswig‑​Holstein to the EU (Hanse‑​Office) in Brussels.

Joined the law firm in 2013.

Advice on state aid law and several notification procedures relating to the ‘H2Global’ funding instrument for the international market ramp‑​up of green hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuels (total funding volume exceeding €6 billion); advice on state aid law to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy on the introduction of an electricity capacity mechanism and on the National Circular Economy Strategy; advice on grant law, budgetary law and financial constitutional law to, amongst others, federal ministries (including the Federal Chancellery and the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs) and KfW; repeated advice to the Federal Ministry of Research, project management agencies and renowned research institutions on R&D funding; pre‑​notification of a funding framework for ultra‑​fast broadband infrastructure; regulatory advice (inter alia European and national emissions trading scheme, electricity price compensation, green gas quota, RFNBOs and advanced biofuels); large local authorities and municipal holding companies on structuring municipal groups in compliance with state aid law; hospital financing.
