Berlin, 11 November 2025. At its general meeting held last week, the Society for Environmental Law (GfU) elected Redeker partner Dr Frank Fellenberg, LL.M. (Cambridge) to become its Deputy Chairman. He succeeds Prof. Dr Sabine Schlacke (University of Greifswald), who had held this post since 2018. Prof. Dr. Schlacke was elected Chairwoman of the GfU, succeeding the attorney Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Ewer.

The Society for Environmental Law was founded in Berlin in 1976 and now has over 700 members. It has staged annual scholarly conferences since its founding, documenting their results for its members.

Elected to the GfU's Executive Committee in 2022, Dr Frank Fellenberg is a specialist lawyer in administrative law and, as partner at the Redeker Sellner Dahs law firm in Berlin, works throughout Germany in the field of environmental law – with his practice focusing on nature conservation law, climate protection law, water law, immission control law and recycling management law. He is a member and European representative of the Environmental Law Committee of the German Bar Association, as well as co‑editor of Neue Zeitschrift für Verwaltungsrecht (NVwZ) and the Klima und Recht (KlimR) journal. He is also a lecturer at the Free University of Berlin.
Hans‑Peter Hoh, Chairman of the Management Committee of the law firm, found these words: “We sincerely congratulate our colleague Frank Fellenberg. He exemplifies our profile: first‑class, sound scholarly work and interdisciplinary advice – combined with a social commitment and the aspiration to proactively shape developments in the field of jurisprudence.”
Redeker partner Dr Dieter Sellner, who gave his name to the firm, was a founding member of the GfU, serving on its board from 1977 to 1997. Redeker lawyer Prof. Dr Alexander Schink was a member of the GfU board from 2005 to 2022.
